That Collector Show
Hi Slowbro squad, it's the SlowBrosTCG, and we recently visited the first That Collector Show event on 15th June 2024, at Bedford Town Football Club. That Collector Show is a UK based trading card and collector event, featuring over trusted vendor tables filled with Pokémon, YuGiOh and much more. That Collector Show is different to other TCG events in the UK because they focus on bringing TCG events to locations that don't have a lot of TCG events, bringing the excitement that these events bring and a focus on fun. That Collector Show focuses on fun activities for children such as treasure hunts, art competitions and others that make them stand out. That Collector Show is hosted by Steve the Collector and Jezie Nieva. In this blog post, we wanted to give a little insights into the event and what it was like.
We were approached by Steve at the #4 Cambridge TCG Show on April 6th, see our previous blog post where we visited the Cambridge TCG show, to do some content and become ambassadors for some upcoming shows that they were planning to put on, we agreed. We set off at 06:45 am and got a number of buses and trains arriving on the morning of the event at 10:25 am. The event was quite busy at this time with people slowly arriving for the event. The event is laid out with multiple vendors all with a table or set of tables around the inside of the venue and outside of the venue. As it was hosted in a football club, there was a bar at the event and a kitchen selling burgers and chips, additionally there was a kids room for face painting and drawing, and an official trade night hosted by the pair later that day.
Similar to the Cambridge TCG Show, one of the best things about this event was the unique Pokémon merchandise you can get from vendors and sellers that are not available on the average UK high street, including 3d printed Pokémon figures, original TCG related artwork, and much more.
Another stand out feature of the That Collector Show was the emphasis, as previously mentioned, on fun and particularly being family friendly with activities specifically tailored for kids. Two activities that were for kids at this event was a drawing competition and a treasure hunt. The drawing competition was a simple fun little competition for children who can draw the best artwork within the hour. This compeition had a small prizesThe treasure hunt was more invovled, the grand prize was a Jumbo-sized Vulpix Funko Pop!
At this event, we also took part in a return to the self-curated 10-minute Pokémon bingo. We previously lost the last 10-minute Pokémon bingo challenge, where we managed to collect nine out of the ten items on the bingo sheet with a burger king card being our downfall. This time, we did it! We collected all 9 items in the allotated time to be
